Yobe establishes 4 sesame processing facilities to boost economic growth
Story from Usman UMAR
The Yobe State Government has established four new sesame processing and packaging facilities in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum and Damaturu LGAs to support the cultivation of high-quality and valuable seeds.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Honourable Idi Barde Gubana, revealed this during an interview with reporters at
his office in Government House, Damaturu.
He explained that the facilities were constructed to capitalise on Yobe’s position as one of the leading producers of sesame found across all 17 local government areas and to enhance production for economic growth throughout the state.

Gubana revealed that the decision to build these facilities was influenced by the interest of international companies in Europe and the Middle East to engage in global trade of sesame seeds.
He added that Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration had revitalised four out of the seven state-owned facilities to generate more job opportunities and boost the state’s revenue.
