Ndume rejects new office allocation

The Senator representing Borno South at the National Assembly, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has rejected a new office allocated to him by the Senate Services Committee.

In a letter directed to the Committee’s Chairman on Tuesday, Ndume expressed that the office allocation does not adequately reflect his seniority and status within the Senate.

The letter, signed by his Chief Confidential Secretary, Yati Shuaibu Gawu, stated: “I am directed to inform you that Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the Committee, as office assignments are traditionally based on seniority.”

Ndume is currently recognised as the most senior senator following Sen. Ahmad Lawan and asserts that he will only accept an office located on the fourth floor.

This decision comes after Ndume was recently removed from his role as Chief Whip of the Senate, a move attributed to his vocal criticisms of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
