Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso, others must collaborate to defeat Tinubu in 2027 – Lukman
Salihu Lukman, the immediate past National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on prominent political figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Rotimi Amaechi, to join forces to defeat the ruling APC in the 2027 general election.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Lukman also suggested that former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and ex-governors Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, Kayode Fayemi, and Ibikunle Amosun should be part of this coalition.
Lukman emphasized the need for selflessness among Nigerian political leaders to build a united front capable of addressing national challenges such as poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and inflation. He criticised the APC for failing to provide the promised leadership and instead legitimising higher levels of corruption.

Lukman pointed out the failures of the APC under both former President Muhammadu Buhari and current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the party has turned democracy on its head by allowing elected leaders to monopolise state machinery for their own interests. He warned of the dangers of “state capture,” where government decision-making is appropriated by small corrupt groups.
He urged political leaders to commit to forming strong political parties and to forgive past misgivings for the sake of national reconciliation. Lukman stressed that building a united front requires political leaders to set aside their presidential ambitions during negotiations.
