Baba Dala makes history, first Yobe lawyer shortlisted by LPPC for Senior Advocate of Nigeria rank

Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) has shortlisted Barrister Baba Dala for promotion to the prestigious rank of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Also on the list from Northeast is Kaka Shehu Lawan, from Borno State.

This was contained in a release signed by Hajo Sarki Bello ESQ, Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary, Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee.

Dala’s leadership transcends professional boundaries. He was a member of the APC National Screening Committee that screened and cleared Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest the 2023 general election.

He was enrolled as Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on 3 November, 1988. He is the Principal Partner of Bahama Chambers, Baba Dala & Co., located in Guzape, Abuja.

Also, he is the Legal Adviser to the executive governor of Yobe State on legal matters.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of the United Kingdom; a certified Capital Market Solicitor of Nigeria; a professional member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria as well as a member of the Nigeria Business Forum.Dala is a specialist in Project Finance Practice.

As the Adviser on Legal matters to the governor of Yobe State, he initiated and coordinated the concept of the Yobe State Education Trust Fund, which was launched in February 2022.

His passion for good governance and doggedness in fighting the military administration of Ben Kalio in Yobe State while serving as the NBA chairman, will be remembered with relish.

He is also linked to other instances of sound advocacy for good governance.
His shortlisting has been described as a welcome development in view of his passion and adherence to ethical practice of the profession.

He had served as a former legal adviser to the PDP before joining APC.

Dala is an accomplished legal luminary, with a wealth of experience spanning over 36 years of legal practice. He, no doubt, has made a mark in the legal profession.

Baba Dala and Shehu Lawan Kaka are the only nominees from the Northeast on the list. By this, Baba Dala becomes the first from Yobe State to be shortlisted for SAN.
