Brazil edges out Nigeria’s Super Falcons in Paris 2024 Olympic games
In their opening Group C match at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Super Falcons of Nigeria narrowly lost 1-0 to Brazil.
Coming off an impressive performance at the 2023 FIFA World Cup and an eight-game unbeaten streak, the Super Falcons started strong in Bordeaux but missed several key opportunities to score.
With eight minutes remaining in the first half, Gabi Nunez netted a goal, putting Nigeria on the back foot.
Despite a determined effort in the second half and multiple substitutions to boost their attack, Nigeria could not penetrate Brazil’s solid defense.

The Super Falcons’ next challenge is against world champions Spain on July 28, followed by a match against Japan on July 31.
In other Group C action, Spain defeated Japan 2-1. Additionally, the US triumphed over Zambia 3-0 in Group B, while France dominated Colombia 3-0 in Group A.
