Court rejects Emefiele’s request to travel abroad for medical checkup
Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, denied the application by former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, seeking permission to travel to the United Kingdom for a follow-up medical checkup.
Justice Muazu’s ruling stated that Emefiele did not provide enough evidence to justify that the medical trip was essential and unavoidable.

It was noted that Emefiele claimed to have an invitation for medical attention in the UK but failed to present this invitation in court.
Furthermore, the judge determined that Emefiele did not prove that his medical condition could not be addressed within the country.
Additionally, it was highlighted that Emefiele is currently facing charges in three other courts.
It was on these grounds that Justice Muazu declined Emefiele’s request to travel abroad for medical purposes.
