Dangote denies receiving govt incentives for $20bn refinery
Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, asserted on Saturday that he did not receive any incentives from the Nigerian government to establish his $20 billion refinery at the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
This statement came during a visit from the leadership of the House of Representatives, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
Dangote emphasized, “In the refinery, we did not, and I repeat, we did not collect one single incentive from the Federal Government of Nigeria or even Lagos State.”
He clarified that the land was purchased for $100 million, contrary to claims of it being provided for free.

Furthermore, Dangote urged the House to investigate the quality of diesel and petrol at filling stations, refuting allegations that his refinery’s products are substandard.
He called for a committee to test the products at various filling stations across the country, highlighting the damage caused by substandard products to vehicles and engines.
