DHQ discovers plans for anarchy amidst planned protest
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced that it has discovered plots by some unscrupulous individuals to utilise the scheduled hunger strike from August 1–15 to foment chaos by imitating the violence in Kenya.
The DHQ committed to foil the conspiracy. Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media activities, revealed this information on Thursday during the biweekly briefing on military activities nationwide.
General Buba acknowledged that people have the right to protest, but he also stated that the military will step in when necessary and that organising to spread chaos will not be tolerated.
He declared that the military would not stand by and watch as such a catastrophe befalls the country, citing intelligence that showed certain factions were plotting to take over the protest and unleash chaos. According to the Defence Headquarters, the planned statewide protest aims to imitate the recent events that occurred in Kenya.
He said, “The aim of the protest is to show you what is happening in Kenya. And I would add that, what is happening in Kenya in terms of the protest – one, is violence. Two, it remains unresolved as we speak now
“So, did you see from that? And based on what has been gathered, there are plans by some unscrupulous elements to hijack this protest and make sure that it turns violent. When it turns violent, I want to tell you what we have seen, as it would likely happen. Indeed, we need to count our blessings.”
