D’Tigress secures first Olympic win in 20 years after defeating Australia
The D’Tigress of Nigeria have secured a significant victory after defeating the Opals of Australia in their opening match at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Under the leadership of coach Rena Wakama, the Nigerian team delivered an impressive performance, clinching a 75-62 victory at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium on Monday.
This triumph is particularly noteworthy as it represents Nigeria’s first Olympic win since the 2004 Athens Games, where they secured a win against South Korea in a classification match after being eliminated from the main competition.
