Ex-Yobe HoS, Saleh Abubakar, resumes office as NAGGW DG

Former Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Saleh Abubakar, has resumed office as the Director General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) following his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

Alhaji Abubakar, a seasoned administrator, will take over from the immediate past helmsman of the agency, Dr. Yusuf Bukar.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony in Abuja, Alhaji Abubakar said he will build on the foundation and consolidate on the achievements recorded by his predecessor in combating desertification and promoting sustainable development of the Nigerian drylands.

He pledged commitment to the tasks before him and solicited the maximum support of the management and staff of the agency to achieve the mandate of the NAGGW.

Abubakar further appreciated the outgoing DG’s conscientious efforts and professionalism in achieving the Great Green Wall programme of halting desertification and restoring degraded lands.

Earlier in his remark, the former DG, Dr. Yusuf Bukar, said the agency under his leadership witnessed tremendous growth in terms of addressing land degradation, especially in the eleven frontline states troubled by desertification in Nigeria.

Dr Bukar thanked the management team for the support and cooperation he enjoyed during his leadership period and implored them to accord same to the new DG.
