KACRAN calls for suspension of youth protests, urgent govt intervention
As the date for a ten-day nationwide protest by Nigerian youths and their supporters approaches, the Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has made a fervent appeal for the suspension of the planned demonstrations.
The association stresses the potential for severe and undesirable consequences on the peace and unity of the nation due to the lack of dialogue between the Federal Government and the protesters.
KACRAN, known for promoting harmony between farmers, herders, and the wider community, believes that protests could exacerbate the current hardships faced by Nigerians, rather than alleviate them.
The association cites the removal of oil subsidies, increased NEPA bills, and rising prices of essential commodities as the primary grievances, but argues that demonstrations are not the solution.
KACRAN President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Bello, highlighted the historical context of protests leading to negative outcomes. He pointed to examples such as the disintegration of the USSR, the devastating protests in Sudan over bread prices, the downfall of Libya influenced by Western powers, and the ongoing turmoil in Kenya.

In Nigeria, the recent End SARS protests in Lagos resulted in numerous deaths and widespread destruction.
The association warns that protests are often hijacked by miscreants, leading to theft and property damage. Instead, KACRAN advocates for peaceful dialogue and concrete government actions to address the economic challenges.
In conclusion, KACRAN appeals to the youths to suspend their protests and urges the government to act swiftly to ensure peace and unity in Nigeria.
