KACRAN lauds Tinubu’s livestock ministry, Buni’s empowerment initiatives

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development, a move seen as a significant step toward resolving the long-standing conflicts between farmers and herders in Nigeria.

The association believes this initiative highlights the President’s dedication to addressing critical issues in the agricultural sector.

KACRAN has long advocated for a Federal Ministry dedicated to livestock development, seeing it as vital to enhancing productivity and fostering peace between farmers and herders.

The establishment of this Ministry and a special Commission demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to these goals. Additionally, his financial support for the North East Development Commission (NEDC) is noted as a crucial contribution to the region’s overall development.

The appointment of Professor Attahiru Jega as Deputy Chairman of the Commission further underscores this commitment. KACRAN is confident that these steps will significantly boost the agricultural sector, improve various livestock value chains, and generate substantial revenue for all levels of government, thereby enhancing Nigeria’s GDP.

The association appeals to President Tinubu to appoint a dedicated and transparent individual as the Minister of Livestock Development to fully realize the President’s vision of a thriving livestock sector, which could create millions of jobs.

KACRAN also expressed its deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, for his agricultural empowerment program, which recently distributed 5,340 ruminants to women in the state.

This initiative, part of a larger agricultural scheme, was officially launched by President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Hon. Kashim Shettima, at a ceremony in Damaturu.

KACRAN praises Governor Buni’s generosity and commitment to supporting farmers and pastoralists, acknowledging the vital role of the Executive Secretary of State SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, in including pastoralists in all SEMA policies and programs.

The association calls on all Northern Governors to follow the examples set by President Tinubu and Governor Buni in promoting the livestock sector and empowering pastoralists, ensuring the dividends of democracy reach even the most rural communities.
