Lady arrested for trying to smuggle hard drugs for inmate in Kuje prison
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has apprehended a lady identified as Precious Yusuf for attempting to smuggle substances suspected to be psychoactive drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, by the Public Relations Officer, FCT Command of NCoS, Adamu Duza, a Deputy Superintendent of Corrections, the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, when the said lady came in the guise of a visitor to one of the inmates.

During the usual routine search by personnel on duty, items suspected to be cannabis sativa as well as other psychoactive substances were concealed in food packs which were to be handed over to the inmate.
The Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Ibrahim Usman, has since ordered that the suspect be handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and prosecution.
“The Controller hereby warns visitors with such intentions to have a rethink as their machinations will surely be uncovered by his eagle-eyed personnel,” the statement read.
“He called on the general public and well-meaning Nigerians to support the Nigerian Correctional Service in its efforts towards reforming and rehabilitating offenders so as to foster public safety.”
