Man kills online girlfriend for refusing to loan him N2m

The Oyo State Police Command has paraded 35-year-old Bolarinwa Segilogbon for the murder of his online girlfriend, Amdalat Afeez, after she refused to loan him N2 million. Amdalat, who traded in ponmo via social media, met Segilogbon on Facebook, and their online friendship soon led to physical meetings in Ibadan.

According to Police Commissioner Ayodele Sonubi, the tragic event occurred on July 7, 2024. Ajao Babatunde and four others discovered Amdalat’s lifeless body in a pool of blood and reported it to the Eleyele Police Station. They saw Segilogbon attempting to cover the blood with sand, leading to his immediate arrest.

Segilogbon confessed to the crime, revealing that he had met Amdalat online and invited her to meet a buyer for her goods. When she refused to loan him the money he requested, he pushed her against an object and hit her with a plank.

Despite her pleas for mercy, Segilogbon killed her to prevent her from reporting him.

In addition to this case, the police also paraded three armed robbery suspects: Tajudeen Alabi, Taye Bola, and Olagunju Olawale. These suspects were involved in a series of armed robberies in Oyo State, where they terrorized hotel lodgers and residents, stealing valuable items and money.

They were eventually arrested, and a locally-made pistol along with stolen mobile phones were recovered.
