The Abia State Police Command has paraded 162 suspects for various crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, vandalism of government properties, and child trafficking.

The parade, held at the command headquarters on Friday, showcased the police’s recent achievements in combating crime in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Maureen Chinaka, highlighted the command’s success in reducing criminal activities.

The suspects included 142 males and 20 females, with recovered items such as firearms of different specifications, vehicles, railway sleepers, illicit drugs, vandalised properties, Biafran and Mozambique currency, and a police camouflage cap.

List of arrested suspects below:

– Josephine Martins, 56: Arrested for child trafficking following a complaint about the disappearance of a baby born to Chinaemezunkpa Okechi.

– Five men: Nwanwa Ifeanyi, 32; Ezeugo Ogbonna, 27; Chukwuebuka Okwuchukwu, 28; Chibuisi Ogbonna, 22; and Chinemerem Ogbonna, 20, for kidnapping and raping a woman in Aba.

– Christian Ezekiel, 25: Arrested for trafficking three women.

During the operations, six children and four adult kidnap victims were rescued, and numerous weapons and vehicles were recovered.

Among those paraded were Innocent Nwaeze, 29; Uchenna Nwoko, 32; Uzoma Erondo, 44; Chinyere Nwaja, 45; Benjamin Ukaegbu, 62; Kingsley Emmanuel, 22; and Atuloma Emmanuel, 20.

The police have charged many suspects in various courts, leading to successful prosecutions, and continue efforts to ensure safety and security in the state.
