Retired army officer found dead in base-camp hotel
A retired colonel of the Nigerian Army, identified as BT Vandi, has been found dead in a hotel within the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) base camp in Bukuru, Plateau State.
According to reports, the retired officer checked into the hotel and was discovered deceased on July 16, 2024.
His body was found by an attendant of the hotel around 3:20 p.m.
According to a military signal obtained by reporters, the body of the deceased has been moved to the 3 Division Military Hospital in Jos for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The signal stated:
“AT ABOUT 161520A 24 TPS OF HQ 3 DIV RECEIVED INFO ON SUBJ, ON ONE COL BT VANDI (RTD) WAS FOUND DEAD IN AN HOTEL ROOM AT NDA BASE CAMP BUKURU PLATEAU STATE. TPS MOB TO THE SCENE AND MOVE THE CORPS TO 3DMSH FOR FURTHER ACTION. PIC ATTACHED.“
The cause of Colonel Vandi’s death remains under investigation as authorities work to uncover more details.
