Tinubu re-elected as ECOWAS Chairman

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has been unanimously re-elected for a second one-year term as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

The decision was made during the 65th Ordinary Session of the Authority, held at the State House in Abuja on Sunday.

Tinubu’s initial tenure will conclude on July 9, 2024. In his acceptance speech, he expressed his commitment to continuing his service with dedication, stating, “I have accepted to continue to deliver on this service with the great men and women on this democratic journey, to serve our interest and build democratic values on the structure we inherited.”

The re-election reflects the confidence of West African leaders in Tinubu’s leadership and his role in promoting democratic values and regional cooperation.
