Gombe NUJ chairmanship aspirant, Mu’azu, pledges improved welfare for journalists
The chairmanship aspirant of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Gombe Branch, Faruk Mu’azu, has pledged to create an enabling environment for the development of journalists in the state.
Mu’azu, who rounded off his campaign on Monday at the Gombe Media Corporation, assured members of inclusion.
The chairmanship aspirant visited NTA, Jewel FM, GMC Radio, GMC Television, Federal, State Information, and Correspondents’ Chapels where he secured assurances of members.
In a chat with journalists
in Gombe, Mu’azu, who holds double Masters in Public Relations and Communication Studies from Bayero University Kano, emphasised his qualification to give the council the needed leadership.
Mu’azu lamented the lack of secretariat for council activities, adding that he would facilitate the construction of a befitting edifice through support from relevant stakeholders.
The chairmanship candidate said he would also re-introduce insurance scheme towards improving the welfare and well-being of all journalists in the state.
Mu’azu said, “My four-point agenda is to ensure full use of the NUJ Secretariat in Gombe State by completing it, prioritise journalists’ welfare through cooperative society and enrolling journalists who are willing into GoHealth services.
“We will make training and retraining of journalists a norm in the council and ensure inclusive administration where everyone’s idea will be harnessed to make Gombe NUJ great.
“So please I need your votes to get this mandate to serve, so vote for me and everyone on my team too should be extended the love you have for me by voting for them too.”
While commending former chairmen of the council for their efforts, Mu’azu added, “Our past leaders have done well in uplifting our union to great heights.
“However, our council is lagging behind among its peers across the country. Therefore, I’m committed to improving on their strides with my four-point agenda.
“I pledge to work tirelessly with my team members to make NUJ in Gombe State a brand of excellence among its peers,” he said.
