D’Tigress exit 2024 Paris Olympics after losing to US team
The fairy tale run of Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, came to a close Wednesday night as they were defeated by a stronger United States team 88-74.
The Nigerian side displayed a solid performance in the final quarter, but their top effort was insufficient.
During a period in the final quarter, D’Tigress went on a 12-0 streak that narrowed the initial wide US advantage to 15. However, it proved to be inadequate with not enough time remaining.
The U.S. maintained a commanding 76-48 lead after three quarters. Multiple players contributed nine points or more, with Jackie Young leading the way with 15.
Each player on the American team managed to score at least one point, and they were shooting an impressive 60% from the field.

It is reasonable to assume that Australia is now hoping to face the U.S.
The Americans will now go up against Australia, who were defeated by Nigeria in the initial group match.
