#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Police nab 320 over Kano protest chaos

The Kano State Police Command has detained 320 individuals in connection with the vandalism of public buildings during recent nationwide protests.

The arrests were announced by SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s Public Relations Officer, during a parade of the suspects at the police headquarters on Friday.

Kiyawa detailed that the suspects were apprehended at various locations including the High Courts and other public sites, with a range of items found in their possession.

The police, working with other security agencies, have established a comprehensive security network to maintain order and protect residents.

The Commissioner of Police, Salma Dogo, supported the state government’s decision to implement a 24-hour curfew, emphasizing the need for public cooperation in returning stolen property to the nearest police station.

Dogo warned against any acts of vandalism or disruptions, stressing that offenders would face severe consequences.

“The police remain committed to upholding law and order,” Dogo asserted. He also called on residents to assist by providing intelligence to help apprehend criminals and enhance safety in the community.

The police appeal to the public to support these efforts and contribute to restoring peace and security in Kano.
