Gov. Alia sacks Benue electoral commission Chairman
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has dismissed Dr. John Chen from his position as Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), citing alleged incompetence.
The governor’s decision follows a communication from the Benue State House of Assembly, which recommended Chen’s removal based on their findings.
On Friday, Alia confirmed that the Assembly’s resolution, received on Thursday, called for Chen’s removal due to dissatisfaction with his management of the commission.
The governor stated, “The actions of the BSIEC chairman did not meet public interest,” which led to his decision to act on the Assembly’s recommendations.
