Gov. Buni commends Yobeans for shunning nationwide protest

Yobe State Governor, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, CON, has commended the people of the state, especially the youth for appreciating the calls against the protest as the state is emerging out of a protracted security challenge.

Governor Buni said, “l am happy we are working on the same page, we clearly understand our situation, the state is just picking its pieces and we can not afford to accomodate anything that will draw us backwards.
“The good people of Yobe and especially our vibrant youth have shown great love, concern and patriotism to the state by adhering to calls against joining the protest” he said.

The governor assured that the state government would expand its policies and programmes to promote economic recovery and growth, and ensure large coverage of beneficiaries.
“We recently launched the massive agricultural empowerment programme to enhance agricultural production, ensure food sufficiency and security in the state.
“As you are aware 20 farmers from each of the 178 political wards are benefitting from the empowerment programme, this is in addition to the employments government offered to our youths in all the political wards.
He assured that his government would ensure that Yobe State becomes a role model in both rain-fed and irrigation agricultural production.
The governor further assured that, with such understandings, government would continue to execute people-oriented policies and programmes to improve the lives of the people.
Neptune Prime reports that nationwide protests against hunger and bad governance have commenced in major cities of the country like Abuja, Lagos, Kano and others.
Some of the protests are beginning to turn violent with police shooting teargas at demonstrators in Abuja, while protesters outnumbered security operatives in Kano, thereby looting private shops and breaking into government offices.
