Governor Zulum meets Customs CGC to boost border security, trade facilitation (Pictures)

Borno State Governor,  Babagana Umara Zulum met with the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, today to express gratitude for the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) ongoing support in enhancing trade facilitation and border security within the state.

Governor Zulum underscored the strategic importance of Borno State, which shares borders with Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. He highlighted the necessity for strengthened collaboration to improve security and facilitate trade, acknowledging the unique challenges posed by the state’s extensive borders.

“We are deeply grateful for the dedication and support the Nigeria Customs Service has extended to Borno State. Managing our borders effectively is crucial for our safety and economic prosperity. We look forward to deepening our partnership with the Customs Service to better address these challenges,” Governor Zulum stated.

In response, CGC Adeniyi expressed his appreciation for Governor Zulum’s visit and reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to supporting Borno State. “We value the support from Borno State as we work to fulfil our responsibilities. Our goal is to enhance legitimate trade while ensuring robust border protection,” CGC Adeniyi assured.

The meeting concluded with Governor Zulum extending an invitation to CGC Adeniyi to visit Borno State, emphasising the importance of building on the existing partnership between the state and the Nigeria Customs Service to address security and trade challenges effectively.
