Haaland hits hat-trick as Man City put Ipswich to the sword

Erling Haaland delivered another stunning performance on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick to lead Manchester City to a commanding 4-1 victory over newly-promoted Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite a shocking early setback when Ipswich’s Sammie Szmodics found the net in the 7th minute, City quickly regained control of the match. Haaland equalized from the penalty spot after a foul on debutant Savinho, and just minutes later, Kevin De Bruyne capitalized on a mistake by Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to put City ahead.

Haaland added his second goal by expertly finishing a De Bruyne assist, and he completed his hat-trick with a long-range effort late in the game, marking his seventh Premier League hat-trick in just 68 appearances.

This victory propels Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table with a perfect six points from their first two games as they begin their defense of last season’s title. The match also featured a special moment as former captain Ilkay Gundogan returned to the Etihad, taking his place on the bench to a warm reception from the home crowd.

Ipswich Town, playing their first top-flight campaign in 22 years, struggled to cope with City’s quality, especially after facing Liverpool in their opening match. However, the newly-promoted side showed resilience, holding off City for over an hour after the initial flurry of goals.
