Haaland scores another hat-trick at West Ham, propels Man City to Premier League summit
Erling Haaland continued his blistering form, scoring a second consecutive hat-trick to lead Manchester City to a 3-1 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday. The Norwegian striker’s treble, following a similar feat against Ipswich the previous weekend, takes his Premier League tally to a remarkable 70 goals in just 69 appearances.
The win propels Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table, maintaining their perfect start to the season. Pep Guardiola’s men, seeking a fifth consecutive league title, have won all three of their opening fixtures, with Haaland playing a central role in their early success.
Despite rotating his squad due to the exertions of the Euro 2024 final, Guardiola saw his side dominate from the start. Haaland opened the scoring after West Ham’s defense gifted possession to Bernardo Silva, who set up the striker to slot past Alphonse Areola.

The hosts briefly equalized through a Ruben Dias own goal, but Haaland restored City’s lead with a powerful strike before half-time.
West Ham threatened a comeback in the second half, with Mohammed Kudus hitting the post, but Haaland sealed the victory with a confident finish, chipping substitute goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. The 24-year-old nearly added a fourth in stoppage time, but Fabianski denied him.
The defeat leaves West Ham in 14th place, while Manchester City head into the international break as the league’s early pacesetters.
