IGP Egbetokun orders immediate rescue of 20 abducted medical students

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the swift rescue of 20 medical students abducted in Otukpo, Benue State, en route to a medical convention in Enugu.

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, Egbetokun condemned the kidnapping, describing it as “truly appalling, callous, and unacceptable.”

The IGP has mobilised extensive human and technical resources to ensure the safe return of the students, including additional tactical units, helicopters, drones, and specialized vehicles. He reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of the perpetrators and called on the public to provide useful information to aid the ongoing investigation.

“The Nigeria Police Force stands with the victims and their loved ones during this challenging time and will work tirelessly to maintain peace, stability, and the rule of law throughout the country,” Egbetokun assured.
