IPOB/ISWAP kill policeman at Anambra checkpoint, injure 1 other
IPOB/ISWAP launched a deadly attack on a police checkpoint in Nnewi, Anambra State, resulting in the death of one police officer.
The attack occurred at around 9 a.m. at the Omata junction in the Uruagu community.
According to local sources, the attackers were initially repelled by the police. However, they retaliated by throwing an improvised explosive device (IED) at the police team, which tragically killed one officer.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered a manhunt operation on the gunmen.”

SP Ikenga further added, “The manhunt operation, led by the Assistant Commissioner in charge of the Nnewi Area Command, is already working with the locals in the area to unmask and apprehend the attackers.”
