Man in Bauchi abducts, kills neighbour’s son after collecting ransom
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man who conspired with another person to kidnap the 8-year-old son of his neighbour and killed him after collecting ransom from the boy’s father.
The state police command, which announced the development on its Facebook wall, said the man, whose name was given as Ibrahim Mohamed Liman, aged 23 years, and described as a neighbour to the victim’s family, was arrested by men of the Toro Division of the state police command on Thursday.
It was gathered that the culprit conspired with another person to abduct the son of his neighbour by luring him under the pretence of delivering a message to his father.
They thereafter took the boy to a nearby bush where they killed him and buried his body in a shallow grave.
According to the command, following credible intelligence and a tip-off, police operatives succeeded in apprehending the suspect.

The command wrote, “The suspect admitted taking the young boy into a nearby bush where they killed him and buried his body in a shallow grave. The suspect also disclosed that they demanded a ransom of N200,000 from the victim’s father.

“Although the father complied and took the money to the designated location, they were unable to retrieve it due to the presence of security operatives in the area.
“The man is currently giving useful information to the police operatives while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more interrogation.
“Also a manhunt had been launched for the arrest of the fleeing accomplice.
