N90bn Hajj Fraud: Ex-NAHCON Chair, Jalal Arabi, secretary, regain freedom
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released the former Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Jalal Arabi, and the commission’s secretary, Abdullahi Kontagora, on bail.
The two men were held in the anti-graft agency’s custody for allegedly embezzling the ₦90bn 2024 Hajj intervention fund provided by the federal government.

According to a source, “The former Hajj Commission chairman and the secretary have been released but investigation is still ongoing.
The source said the duo was released on 19th August after meeting their bail conditions.

Neptune Prime reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed Arabi from his position as chairman of the commission and appointed Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of NAHCON.
