NELFUND confirms receiving ₦50bn from EFCC

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has confirmed the receipt of ₦50 billion from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), funds recovered from criminal proceeds. This transfer was made in accordance with directives issued by President Bola Tinubu.

The announcement was made by Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Corporate Communications for NELFUND, who expressed the organization’s gratitude to President Tinubu for his commitment to bolstering the student loan program.

The additional funding is seen as a significant step in the administration’s efforts to increase access to education across Nigeria.

“The release of these funds will greatly enhance our ability to support students in need, allowing them to pursue their academic goals without financial constraints,” said Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND.

The organisation also extended its thanks to the EFCC, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Ola Olukayode, for their swift action in releasing the funds. The collaboration between NELFUND and the EFCC is expected to ensure the efficient and equitable distribution of the funds, directly benefiting Nigeria’s youth.
