Northern group slams ex-CCT chairman’s aide over comments on Tinubu’s appointment
The Northern Patriotic Front has urged the embattled Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal Justice Danladi Umar to call his media aide Mr. Usman Atekojo to desist from any act capable of jeopardising the intergrity and image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent replacement of his boss with Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo.
A press statement signed in Abuja by Muhammed Ahmed on behalf of the group said President Tinubu’s replacement of CCT Chairman with Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo on July, 13 2024 might not be unconnected with the series of allegation of fraud, corruption, nepotism and marginalisation by some CCT workers in June 2022,
The statement added that Mr. Danladi Umar was accused of awarding fraudulent contracts to his friends without recourse to procedure and due process, while he was said to have blocked annual training for staff as was published by Vanguard Newspaper on 17-8-2024.

“Another serious issue was that on 29 March 2021, Danladi Umar was seen in a viral video assaulting a 22-year-old security guard, Clement Sargwak, whose only offence was that he tried to do his job to ensure that Umar’s car was properly parked at the Banex plaza parking lot, Wuse 2 in Abuja.
“Furthermore the CCT, a special court that is saddled with the responsibility of adjudicating assets declaration related cases of public servants which emanated from the Code of Conduct Bureau should not be headed by someone whose integrity is questionable.
“Indeed there were numerous cases pending against Mr. Danladi Umar in EFCC, ICPC, and the National Assembly, all bordering on corruption and gross misconduct of which the office requires a statesman with stainless character to hold, as the arbiter of public servants morality and exemplary conduct.
“Only in Nigeria, someone with negative records will be allowed to hold such office needing clean leadership.
“The instances of removal from office without finishing tenure ending is normal in Nigeria as over 75% of all appointments made are without regard to statutory tenure. If most EFCC leaders, IGP Tafa Balogun, CJN Walter Ononghen, and countless others were removed on account of misconduct without finishing their tenure, who is Danladi Umar with heap of corruption allegations to challenge the president’s feat!!!???
“The Danladi Umar –led CCT has failed woefully in the fight against corruption by not being to convict at least one person in the last four years, despite the fact that hundreds of cases are pending before it, his replacement by President Tinubu is to save the sanctity of the office he occupies,” the statement said.
