Protesters abandon Abuja stadium, gather at Berger roundabout

The EndBadGovernance protesters in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have shifted their demonstrations from Moshood Abiola Stadium to the popular Berger Roundabout.

An FCT High Court had ordered the protesters to limit their demonstrations to the stadium on Wednesday. Complying initially, the protesters gathered at the stadium on Thursday but resisted pressure from security operatives to remain inside.

After reports of harassment by security operatives at Eagles Square, the protesters left the stadium and marched in large numbers.

Upon arriving at Berger Roundabout, the policemen guarding the facility repeatedly used tear gas on the protesters.

Reports indicate that by 7 a.m. on Friday, the stadium was deserted, and it was later learned that the protesters had relocated.

As of the time of filing this report, the protesters were assembling at Berger Roundabout.
