Sokoto Ambush: Bandits kill 4 soldiers, multiple civilians
The military has announced that troops from Operation Hadarin Daji encountered an ambush by bandits in the general area of Bachaka Kurya Forest, Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on August 10 at around 11:45 p.m., resulting in the loss of four personnel.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated in a release provided to newsmen on Tuesday that the ambush occurred near the border with the Republic of Niger.
He reported that during the firefight, several bandits were killed, and weapons and ammunition were recovered.
The statement added, “The corpses of the slain bandits indicate that the attack was carried out by a terror group from Niger Republic known as Lakurawa. Unfortunately, four of our personnel were killed in the encounter.
“The remaining members of the terror group escaped into the Niger Republic. Troops are currently in pursuit to locate and neutralize the terrorists.”
