Tinubu appoints Michael Ango as acting chairman of FCT-IRS
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Michael Hadi Ango as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS). The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press, in the Office of the FCT Minister.
Ogunleye highlighted Ango’s extensive experience in revenue administration and financial management, stating, “Mr. Ango brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in revenue administration, financial management, and organisational leadership.” Ango’s background includes over 20 years of service across both public and private sectors.

Ango, who holds an LLM degree from Columbia University School of Law and a Bachelor of Law from Ahmadu Bello University, has held significant roles such as Partner and Head of the Tax Advisory and Regulatory Services Unit at Andersen LP. He has also served as Head of Legal and Stakeholder Relations at NIRSAL PLC and as Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Guinness Nigeria PLC.
Ogunleye further noted, “Ango’s professional journey also includes serving on strategic committees such as the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.” As Acting Chairman, Ango will be tasked with overseeing strategic initiatives to enhance revenue generation and ensure fiscal sustainability for the FCT-IRS.
