When Deeds Speak Louder: A miraculous escape from nature’s grip
In a long time before, three men find themselves at the mercy of nature’s wrath. A storm, wild and unyielding, forces them to seek refuge in a dark, damp cave nestled within the craggy mountains.
But as they settle in, the earth shifts, and a massive rock slides down from the heights, sealing the entrance. Trapped, with no escape in sight, the men face a grim reality.
Hope seems distant, but one of them speaks, breaking the silence that has enveloped them. “Our only chance,” he says, “is to call upon Allah by the purest of deeds we have done.” The others nod, and one by one, they begin to recount their most selfless acts, hoping that sincerity might move the heavens to mercy.
The first man, his voice trembling with emotion, recalls the night he sacrificed his comfort for the sake of his aged parents. “O Allah,” he begins, “my parents were frail and old. Each night, I would bring them their drink before attending to anyone else in my family. One evening, I was delayed, wandering far in search of greener pastures.
By the time I returned, my parents were fast asleep. Despite the cries of my hungry children, I stood by their bedside, waiting until dawn broke, so they could drink first. I did this, O Lord, seeking only Your pleasure. If this act was sincere, lift this rock and grant us escape.”
The rock shudders, moving ever so slightly, but not enough to free them.
The second man, his voice thick with regret and longing, shares his story of a love nearly lost to sin. “O Allah,” he prays, “I loved my cousin with a passion beyond reason.
When a famine left her destitute, she came to me for help. I offered her a large sum of money but demanded she sin with me in return. As we were about to commit the act, she reminded me to fear You, to not break the sacred trust. Despite my desire, I withdrew, letting her keep the money.
I did this, O Lord, seeking only Your pleasure. If this act was sincere, lift this rock and grant us escape.”

Again, the rock shifts, a little more this time, but still, the exit remains blocked.
Finally, the third man speaks, his voice steady with the strength of integrity. “O Allah,” he recounts, “I once hired laborers to work in my fields. When the day ended, one man left without taking his wages.
I invested his earnings, and over time, the wealth grew. When he returned, I gave him everything that had come from his initial payment—flocks of animals, servants, and goods. He could hardly believe it, thinking I was playing a cruel joke. But I assured him it was all his, and he took it all. I did this, O Lord, seeking only Your pleasure. If this act was sincere, lift this rock and grant us escape.”

With that, the rock shifts once more, and this time, it moves far enough for them to slip through to freedom. The men, overwhelmed with gratitude, step into the light, their faith in divine mercy unshakable.
This tale, drawn from the depths of history, is more than just a story of three men. It’s a reminder that in the darkest of times, when hope seems all but lost, it is our deeds—those done with pure intention—that can bring about the most miraculous of rescues.
Whether in ancient times or in our modern lives, the power of sincere action resonates, lifting us out of the most impossible situations.
