Widow, 5 children die after consuming local delicacy
A devastating tragedy struck Karkari village in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, where a widow and her five children died after consuming a local delicacy known as Danwake. The family members, who were rushed to Gwarzo General Hospital in critical condition, were all confirmed dead upon arrival.
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the heartbreaking incident, which took place after the family consumed the meal on Thursday. Preliminary reports suggest that the dish was prepared using expired cassava flour, which is suspected to be the cause of their deaths.
The victims have been identified as Alhakatu Abdulkarim, the widow who prepared the meal, and her five children: Bashir, Firdausi, Hafsat, Usman, and Jamilu. The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local community, leaving neighbors and extended family members in deep mourning.
