The Defence Headquarters announced on Friday that Nigerian troops have made significant strides in the fight against terrorism over the past week. According to the statement, a total of 152 terrorists were killed and 109 were arrested. This achievement includes the dismantling of two major terrorist strongholds: the Sadiku enclave at Tsora Hill in Safana Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State, and the Yusuf enclave in Yadi Forest, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Media Operations, reported that the military’s recent operations have been crucial in moving closer to eradicating terrorism from the country. “These operations are a testament to our ongoing commitment to defeating terrorists and insurgents, and our troops are continuously improving their strategies to counter these threats,” Buba stated.

In addition to the successes against terrorist groups, the military’s operations also led to the recovery of crude oil products worth N795 million, highlighting efforts to combat oil theft. Over the week, the troops rescued 91 hostages, further underscoring their role in protecting civilians.

Buba emphasized the importance of public support in the fight against terrorism and urged citizens to back the military’s ongoing efforts. He reassured the public that the armed forces are resolutely pursuing the goal of completely eliminating criminal elements from the country.
