Abuja court sends #EndbadGovernance protesters to Kuje Prison
A Federal High Court in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, has ordered the remand of some #EndBadGovernance protesters in Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and ruling on their bail application.
The protesters were charged with treason and pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge” slammed against them by the federal government.
Neptune Prime reports that a nationwide protest against hunger, bad governance and hardship broke out in different states of the country on August 10.
The protest, which was marred with violence, looting and deaths of citizens led to the arrests of many people by security agencies in various parts of the country.
Following the arrests, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered the remand of some of the protesters in Kuje Correctional Centre on Monday.
The protesters pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge bordering on terrorism slammed against them by the Federal Government.

“We plead not guilty to the six-count charge,” some of the protesters said in a statement.
The judge fixed the date for the hearing and ruling on their bail application for September 11, 2024.
“The Federal Government has slammed a six-count charge bordering on terrorism against the protesters,” said Justice Emeka Nwite.
The protesters were remanded in prison pending the hearing and ruling on their bail application.
Meanwhile, citizens have faulted the government for the charges against the protesters with many calling for their release from detention.
