AFCON 2025 qualifier: Lookman reacts to Super Eagles victory over Benin Republic
Ademola Lookman has expressed his excitement following Nigeria’s impressive 3-0 win against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Super Eagles kicked off their campaign with a commanding performance at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday. Lookman, who plays as a winger for Italian club Atalanta, was the standout player of the match, scoring the opening and closing goals, while also playing a pivotal role in the team’s second.
The 26-year-old’s stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade. After the game, Lookman took to social media to celebrate, sharing his excitement with his fans on X (formerly Twitter) by posting, “Take off ⚽️⚽️✔️.

Lookman and his teammates will now shift their focus to their next qualifier, an away match against the Amavubi of Rwanda, scheduled for Tuesday.
