The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has achieved a clean sweep in the local government elections held in Anambra State on Saturday, September 28, 2024, winning all 21 local government chairmanship and councilorship positions.

Genevieve Osakwe, Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), announced the results during a briefing at the ANSIEC office in Awka on Sunday evening.

Osakwe confirmed that APGA captured every chairmanship seat and secured the councilorship roles in each local government area, as verified at the ward level.

Describing the election as a testament to transparency, Osakwe highlighted the meticulous effort put into collating and analyzing the results to ensure their accuracy.

She shared the impressive vote totals received by APGA candidates, declaring them victors based on the highest number of votes cast by the electorate.

Osakwe commended the citizens of Anambra State for their significant turnout and expressed gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the electoral process.

She stated, “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councilorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.”

“We ensured all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible.”

However, defeated candidates of the opposition parties that participated in the election and their officials were not present at ANSIEC office when the final results were declared
around 8:20 PM on Sunday.
