Arsenal overpower Leicester in dramatic fashion, go joint-top with Man City

Arsenal pulled off a thrilling 4-2 victory over Leicester City, needing two late goals to secure all three points in their Premier League clash on Saturday. With this win, the Gunners moved joint-top with Manchester City in the league standings.

The game had a dramatic conclusion, with Wilfred Ndidi’s own goal and a subsequent defensive error by Leicester sealing their fate in added time.

Arsenal took control early in the game, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring his first goal of the season in the 20th minute. The Brazilian winger capitalised on a well-delivered cross from Jurrien Timber, calmly slotting the ball inside the far post.

Just before the half-time whistle, Martinelli turned playmaker, assisting Leandro Trossard to double Arsenal’s advantage. Trossard finished with precision, putting the Gunners in a commanding position.

However, Leicester fought back early in the second half. James Justin’s deflected effort in the 47th minute brought the Foxes back into the contest, and he shocked the Emirates Stadium again in the 63rd minute with a stunning volley that ricocheted off the woodwork to level the score at 2-2.

As the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Arsenal took advantage of Leicester’s late defensive lapses. In the dying moments of stoppage time, Trossard’s shot deflected off Ndidi for his own goal, and Kai Havertz added a fourth goal moments later to ensure Arsenal’s victory.

With this win, Mikel Arteta’s men continued their excellent run, while Leicester will rue their late defensive mistakes.
