Cole Palmer makes Premier League history as Chelsea cruise past Brighton

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer made Premier League history on Saturday by scoring an astonishing four goals in just 20 minutes of the first half, leading the Blues to a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.

The match started poorly for Chelsea as Brighton’s Georginio Rutter took advantage of a catastrophic mix-up in the Chelsea defence, heading in his first goal for the Seagulls to give them an early lead. However, the Blues quickly responded, and Palmer took control of the game, putting on a sensational display that would soon go down in the history books.

Palmer levelled the score by sweeping home a precise pass from Nicolas Jackson before showcasing his composure by coolly slotting in a penalty to put Chelsea ahead. He followed that up with a spectacular free-kick that curled beautifully into the top corner, marking his third goal of the match and his third hat-trick for Chelsea.

Despite Brighton’s Carlos Baleba managing to reduce the deficit after capitalising on another error from Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Palmer was not finished yet. He completed his historic first half by blasting the ball past Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen at his near post, making it a stunning four goals in just 20 minutes.

In an electrifying first half, Palmer could have even extended his tally further, hitting the post and having another effort ruled out for offside. The score at half-time left Chelsea in a commanding position.

The second half saw no goals scored, as both teams failed to break the deadlock, but the damage had already been done. Chelsea’s solid performance allowed them to secure the win, marking Brighton’s first defeat under new manager Fabian Hurzeler.

With this victory, Chelsea moved up to third place in the Premier League standings, having accumulated an impressive 13 points from their last five matches after an opening-day loss to Manchester City. Under the management of Enzo Maresca, the team has shown remarkable improvement and resilience.

Palmer’s record-breaking performance has not only solidified his place as a key player for Chelsea but also left fans and analysts buzzing with excitement about his potential for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea’s next challenge will be to maintain this momentum as they aim for a strong finish in the league.
