Customs confirms appointment of 2 DCGs, 5 ACGs
The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has confirmed the appointment of two Deputy Comptroller-Generals of Customs (DCGs) and five Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs). The appointments were announced at the board’s 60th Regular Meeting, held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the NCS headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
The newly appointed DCGs are OA Alajogun and KI Adeola, while the ACGs are IG Umar, MM Tilley-Gyado, BA Makinde, OA Salefu, and T Bomodi. These appointments were made following the statutory retirement of senior officers and are in line with the Federal Character Policy, ensuring balanced representation within the Service.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, expressed his confidence in the capabilities of the newly appointed officers, urging them to enhance their efforts in critical areas such as revenue generation, trade facilitation, and anti-smuggling operations. “These appointments reflect our dedication to operational excellence, and I believe that these officers will further contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development,” Adeniyi stated.
The meeting also marked the upgrade of the Customs ICT Unit to a full-fledged department, with DCG KI Adeola appointed to head the newly formed department. She will be supported by an Assistant Comptroller-General and five Comptrollers, with a clear mandate to drive the digital transformation of the Service.

“The digital era demands that we evolve. The ICT department will play a pivotal role in enhancing our operational efficiency and transforming how we engage in trade facilitation,” Adeniyi added.
These changes are part of the ongoing efforts to modernise the Nigeria Customs Service and position it as a leader in trade and revenue collection, contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
With these strategic appointments and the upgrade of the ICT department, the Nigeria Customs Service is set to embrace the future with renewed focus on efficiency, digital transformation, and robust anti-smuggling measures.
