Darkness hits Maiduguri as terrorists bomb newly repaired power transmission line

In a devastating attack, Boko Haram terrorists have destroyed the Damaturu-Maiduguri 330 Kilovolt transmission line in Borno State, just three weeks after it was restored. The incident occurred early on Sunday when the attackers detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) facility, plunging Maiduguri and its surroundings into darkness.

Sources report that the bombing took place around 2 a.m., marking another assault on critical infrastructure by insurgents. This attack follows the restoration of the transmission line on September 4, 2024, after it had previously been damaged.

As of now, TCN has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. The ongoing targeting of vital energy infrastructure raises significant concerns about the security situation in the region.
