DSS releases NLC president Ajaero on bail
The Department of State Services (DSS) has released president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, on bail.
Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for a Trade Union Congress conference in London.
Activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, confirmed his release via a post on X/Twitter on Monday night.

He said, “The fascist regime of @officialABAT has released the @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero from @OfficialDSSNG custody on bail.
Similarly, human rights activist and one of NLC’s lawyers, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the release in a message for the press.
He said, “Yes, he has been released.”
Prior to the release, the NLC held an emergency meeting demanding that the DSS releases Ajaero on or before midnight of Monday in order to avert shutting down the economy.
