Ex- beauty queen Aderinoye surrenders to NDLEA after 8-month fugitive run

Aderinoye Queen Christmas, a former beauty queen and founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, has surrendered to the Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after evading arrest for eight months.

The NDLEA had declared Aderinoye, whose real name is Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, wanted in January 2024 following a raid at her residence in Lekki, Lagos State.

The raid, conducted on January 24th, uncovered 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a potent strain of cannabis), an electronic weighing scale, a large quantity of drug packaging materials, and a black RAV 4 SUV among other items.

According to Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Aderinoye, who was crowned Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016, had been in hiding in Akure, Ondo State, before finally surrendering to the agency on August 28th.

This development comes amid ongoing efforts by the NDLEA to crack down on drug-related crimes across the country, with recent operations in Lagos and Rivers States resulting in the seizure of drugs worth N17.9 billion, including tramadol and codeine-based syrup.
