Gunmen in Ogun state abduct Babcock teaching hospital staff
Senior nursing officer from the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilishan Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, has been abducted by suspected kidnappers. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the abduction of Elizabeth Uruakpa on Friday, September 6, 2024.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealed during an interview with Channels Television that the incident occurred near the new market in Ilishan at around 5:10 PM. Uruakpa was reportedly driving her Honda CRV when young armed men in an unregistered red Toyota Camry blocked her vehicle and kidnapped her.
Odutola stated that the anti-kidnapping unit of the police has been activated and is working relentlessly to ensure the safe release of the victim.
“We have mobilised into the bush, and the Officer in Charge of Anti-Kidnapping has been contacted for possible clues and movement,” she said.
Efforts are being intensified to locate Uruakpa and bring her abductors to justice, as the police work to secure her safe return.

This latest abduction adds to a growing list of kidnapping cases in Ogun State and across Nigeria, as authorities continue to grapple with the menace of armed groups targeting individuals for ransom.
