Kidnapped ASUU zonal coordinator escapes from captivity
The kidnapped Benin Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Monday Igbafe, has reportedly escaped from captivity.
Igbafe, a lecturer at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, was abducted on Saturday while driving into his residence.
His abductors reportedly drove him away in an ash-colored Toyota Highlander with the registration number ABJ 180 JQ.
Blueprint learned on Monday that operatives from the Ekpoma police division began searching the surrounding bush after the lecturer’s kidnapping, which ultimately led to his escape.
The Edo State police command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the victim’s escape. He stated, “The command is aware of the report. Operatives from the Ekpoma Division applied pressure on the kidnappers, which facilitated the victim’s escape.”
“We are on the trail of the suspects to ensure they are brought to book.”
