Nigeria vs Benin: Osimhen, Okoye start on bench for 2025 AFCON qualifier
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign against Benin Republic with notable players Victor Osimhen and Maduka Okoye starting from the bench.
Victor Boniface is expected to lead the attack alongside Ballon d’Or nominee Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze.
The starting lineup also features Stanley Nwabali, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Alex Iwobi.

On the substitute bench are Maduka Okoye, Amas Obasogie, Olisa Ndah, Alhassan Yusuf, Frank Onyeka, Victor Osimhen, Dele-Bashiru, Tanimu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, Moses Simon, and Onyedika.
Earlier in the group, Libya and Rwanda played to a 1-1 draw.
