NNPCL, NLNG, FIRS, Delta, Lagos, JAMB, T-Pumpy, others partner with GOCOP for the 2024 conference

More partners are lining up to support the eighth annual conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), scheduled for October 3, 2024, in Lokoja, Kogi State. Major entities like the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Delta State and Lagos State, as well as the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and T-Pumpy Concept Limited, have all joined as partners.
In a press statement released by GOCOP Publicity Secretary Sir Remmy Nweke, the Chairman of the 2024 Conference Planning Committee, Danlami Nmodu, mni, confirmed the participation of these organisations. He also highlighted that other key partners include the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Emadeb Group, and Dangote Group, who have already pledged their support for the event. The conference is set to take place at the Reverton Hotel, GRA Lokoja, with the theme “Nigeria: Tackling Insecurity, Power Deficit, and Transitioning to Digital Economy.”
Nmodu added that additional partners include the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Setraco Nigeria Limited, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Access Bank plc, Zenith Bank plc, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Fidelity Bank plc, Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc (STI), Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), and National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), among others.
The conference will feature several key speakers, with the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyle Imoke, delivering the lead paper as the keynote speaker. The event is expected to attract prominent figures from various sectors, including Alhaji Yusuf Mamman, former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, who will chair the conference, and former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd), along with the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, as guest speakers. Additionally, a panel discussion will feature Professor Rotimi Ajayi of the Federal University Lokoja and veteran broadcaster Ms Debrah M. Ogazuma.
The conference will kick off with a business luncheon for GOCOP partners on October 2, ahead of the main event. Nmodu noted the success of past conferences, recalling that in 2023, the event was chaired by JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Ishaq Olarenwaju Oloyede, with Prof. Uchenna Joseph Uwaleke, the first Nigerian Professor of Capital Market, serving as the keynote speaker.
He also mentioned notable speakers from previous GOCOP conferences, such as Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, who delivered a lecture in 2019 on “Economy, Security and National Development: The Way Forward,” and Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, who keynoted the 2021 edition, addressing “Post-COVID-19 Pandemic: Recovery and Reconstruction in Nigeria.” The 2022 keynote address was delivered by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the theme “2023 Elections: Managing the Process for Credible Outcome.”
The GOCOP conference has established itself as a premier platform for online publishers to uphold the tenets of journalism while addressing crucial national issues through informed discourse.
